London-based Trembling Blue Stars returns this May 14th with their sixth album, The Last Holy Writer. A stand alone EP, Exploring the Shadows, will be released by Elefant Records later this year, according to their myspace blog.
So a little introduction to TBS is in order. According to our friend Jaime, she tells me that TBS was just Robert Wratten trying to cope with his break up with his girlfriend Annemari Davies. So all the sad love songs are basically all about Annemari (even though I think it's weird that she's still in his band). It was never meant to be anything but one album, but obviously he's not quite recovered as they are on their sixth album...
Currently, it seems that TBS are just two people: Bobby Wratten and Beth Arzy. Of the four songs I've listened to, I like the Beth Arzy song the best, it kind of reminded me of their other song Helen Reddy.
Trivia: Their name came from The Story of O by Pauline Réage:
her eyes were like stars, trembling blue stars

also to mention, beth is bobbys girlfriend now and beth used to be in the sarah band aberdeen. field mice (pre-tbs; bobby & annemari's first band together ) were also on sarah records.
of course, i did not actually get this from bobby himself so it could just be hearsay; you know how indiepoppers like to talk.

So, one of my intangible friends (EL) sent me "Sometimes I Still Feel the Bruise" and I absolutely loved it. It is rather depressing and I totally relate to the song.
There second song, Helen Reddy, I'm including that because it's a little different than normal TBS.
Here are the lyrics:
This is just to say "hello"
And to let you know
I think of you from time to time
I know I never really knew you
But somehow I miss you
And wish that you'd stayed in my lifeMaking contact gets harder
As the silence grows longer
And isn't it only me
Who'd like us to see each other?
How I would hate to be a bother
The way we left it was you'd ringI'm under no illusion
As to what I meant to you
But you made an impression
And sometimes I still feel the bruise
Sometimes I still feel the bruiseNow and then I stumble on
What I've misplaced but never lost
An ache I first felt long ago
Though you've appeared and disappeared
Throughout these past few years
I'd be surprised if you now showedMaking contact gets harder
As the silence grows longer
And why would you think of me
When you were not the one in love?
When you were not the dreamer?
When you were just the dream?
