I love this song, and lately it's been playing nonstop on my iPod since Reverend and the Makers's debut album The State of Things, released September 2007 (I actually don't have their album because I refuse to pay $31 for an import).
"Heavyweight Champion of The World" was the first single from them, released last May. You may recall that Mads was all over them when all they had were a handful demos...

I believe they have finally made it.
The debut single did so well for them, it made it to the top 10 the UK singles chart as well as top 10 on iTunes UK (note: not available in the US). Since I live here, I can tell you that no one in the US have heard of these guys... but with the right marketing and touring, I predict they are going to be a household name with such acts like Travis, Arctic Monkeys, and Coldplay.
That's pretty much it... oh they are going to set out on tour in February:
- 02/19/2008 GLASGOW ABC1
02/20/2008 MIDDLESBROUGH TOWN HALL
02/21/2008 SKEGNESS EMBASSY THEATRE
02/23/2008 LINCOLN ENGINE SHED
02/24/2008 BRADFORD UNIVERSITY
02/25/2008 WARRINGTON PARR HALL
02/26/2008 LONDON ROUNDHOUSE
They also mentioned that they'll be playing at the NME Award, which I'm 95% sure they're going to win for best new band.

What The Milkman Saw is from a 9-song demo made by the band. They have been handing the demo out at gigs and it used to be available through the official band forum. But the demo has been taken down because of the expected success of the band? If you search long and hard enough, you will probably find a place to download the demo from. Four songs recorded for a radio session are available on their site, though.
There are still no dates for any proper releases but they are apparently now signed to London label Wall Of Sound so I guess it is just a matter of time.

More useless trivia (which we are good at finding for you): The guy on the cover of the Arctic Monkeys' debut album is the brother of the singer in Reverend And The Makers...
