El Perro Del Mar has a second album called From the Valley to the Stars coming out on April 22, 2008. The album is described as "a 16-track opus, chock-full of non-traditional folk songs". I can't wait for this!
"I wanted to make something as unfashionable as an album in the classic sense of the word - in terms of its composition and the idea of a theme. The theme itself was initially something as simple yet complex as heaven and it led me into a wide and seemingly endless search for a means, a language in which to express myself. Although during this time I was, even though I mostly didn't realize it, following a certain train of thought - that of love, grief and loss, solace and hope, deepest despair and wildest childish euphoria - to the lowest and the highest of heights."
- Sarah Assbring, aka El Perro Del Mar
Please refer back to my coverage of El Perro Del Mar on W♥M and if you want more details, please follow the press release link.
Finally, it looks like Super Furry Animals are going to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman - TONIGHT.
I haven't been keeping up, but isn't there some sort of writer's strike or something ?
Anyway, the press release also mentioned that their album Hey Venus! was released this week on Rough Trade Records.
Follow the link for details on their tour details.

This is the Britpop Top 7 on W♥M. Unlike the previous Top 7 entries, the selections of just Seven was quite hard for me. At the last minute, I had to drop Kula Shaker in favor of the obvious Shed Seven, purely based on their name. Get it ? Shedding Seven ???
Unfortunately, they're not the one spotlight, instead I have to go with Salad, because I get a lot of question about the W♥M banner. It is a vector of Marijne van der Vlugt, the singer of the band.
The last whereabout of Van der Vlugt is that she is the writer and singer of Cowboy Racer. Their website is at cowboyracer.com and they also have a myspace page so you can hear what they sound like.
PS, you would think compiling these Top 7 is easy because it's
basically just a collection of links, but it's not! Picking the best
ones is really hard, I had to weigh all the 29 articles carefully. Special runner-ups includes: The Bluetones (will write about their 2007 album next year), Supergrass (too famous), Space (not quite Britpop), Powder (too unpopular!), and Gene (too, well, too Gene!).

I'm going to see El Perro Del Mar tonight. El Perro is really just the stage name for Swedish singer/songwriter, Sarah Assbring. If I had her misfortunate name, I would use a stage name too.
Anyroad, between all the songs I've downloaded from her record company, www.hybrism.com (check out this delight tune, God Knows), I've decided "Party" is a good song to describe her style of music. This song appeared on her first ever CD-R EP, "Baby I've Been in a Bad Place". It is also available on her self-titled debut album and Look! It's el Perro del Mar! (a compilation of her first three EPs)
The
song's not too poppy, and I like the "Bebop, Bebopalopa" bit is pretty
catchy. Reckon her show will be pretty mellow, ah, sissy music at its
best!

Updated: Wed, 07 Mar 2007 23:35:41 CST: As I suspected, a very mellow show. The Submarines was the opening band. They covered a Kinks song ("Waterloo Sunset"), which was pretty cool, I didn't think they were influenced by the Kinks from their sound.
El Perro Del Mar consists of Sarah (acoustic guitars/vocals), Björn (bass), Jesper (electric guitars) and Jon (keyboard/sounds). Yep, no drums.
During "I Can't Talk About It", there were tears falling from Sarah's eyes. I asked about it later and she said that she gets very emotional.
Here's some random photos:
This audio is not mine. It is from toutfou. I'm testing out if I can 'steal' and put up other people's audio.
This woman is touring and coming around my area, in March. I'm going to have to go!
If you look around online, you'll come across some of her MP3 from her record company. I suggest you download "Party".
Her official website is www.elperrodelmar.com
So I should probably explain that the model used for the banner is Marijne van der Vlugt, model/singer of Salad.
Nobody took Salad seriously because the singer was a super model and she did not write any of the songs.
I have no idea where Salad is nowadays (they broke up and I know Marijne joined another band but I can't be bothered to do the research right now).
The thing to note about "Party" is that lovely growl she does....
