I picked up this promotional B-Side only CD at Amoeba Records in California, a while back. I never really see this CD listed anywhere, so I thought I'd include some additional information, just in case you were a collector.
Released in 1996 by Gut Reaction Records, Catalogue number: U5P-1143. The version I have did not come with a cover and the CD is actually yellow (my scanner fail to pick up the color).
Tracklisting:
- Turn Me On To Spiders
- Rejects
- Spiders
- Life of a Miser
- Blow Your Cover
- Looney Cover
- Give Me Something
- Only Half an Angel

I was going through all my Bluetones CDs and assigning artwork to them (since in the early days of ripping my CDs that there wasn't such an emphasis on album art).
So while going through my CDs, I sort of accidentally re-discovered how wonderful the Bluetones are!
I'll always love their early singles (Bluetonic, Cut Some Rug), but have always ignored their later releases. So here is "After Hours", which easily contain some of my favorite lines:
Incidentally, Mark Morriss has a solo career.Lord only knows what kind of poisons I'm drinking - I can't read the label.
So I'll just dance off my cares like Fred Astaire, up here on the table.

I'll be terribly honest with you, I don't really know much about Bearsuit. I know that they're on microindie records (did they go bankrupted?), and I ended up buying "Cat Spectacular", their debut album.
You can grab a few sample MP3s off their official website and I was keen on their "clappy" song.
Someone please send me a list of "clappy" songs, I must have a huge collection of clap-along-songs by now.
By the way, this song is misleading because the boy singer, he sings on 95% of the songs off the album.
Also, the cool thing is, you can download their "how to make a bear hat" off their website. It looks fairly easy to do, maybe one day I will get some faux fur cloth and a sewing machine...
One last thing, there is are a series of binary code that they sing in the song. It probably doesn't mean anything, 001110101010100110001101010101001100

My brother made me listen to the Faint.
The only reason why I like them is that they sound so much like Information Society (and they are a band dear to my heart).
There's that familiar keyboard/new wave sound that is all the rage these days.
Anyway, I thought Agenda Suicide is the best song off their "Danse Macabre" album. You'll probably disagree.
I'll also try and remember to mention the artist's website whenever I review them here. Maybe make it a standard like this:

You can download some sample MP3s off her website (as well as Minty Fresh).
What's interesting about her solo music is that it sounds very adult contemporary, even a little jazzy. Which is not bad, but it's certainly a different direction from her indie group Velocity Girl.
I like this song off her new album "City Morning Song".
They originally marketed the two girls as lesbians, but it was pretty apparent a few months later when reports of their boyfriends started to emerge.
Did you know: they have two albums ? In fact, they are planning on releasing a third album in 2007.
Here is their awful, awful, awful version of "How Soon is Now?". I thought for sure that Morrissey and Marr would've gotten back together just to cease and desist this song from being released....
Must be listened to be believed.
We have here a French song called Banana Split by Lio. Lio was HUGE in the 80s, I think she was only sixteen when her song skyrocketed through the roof.
If you listen to it, it is really an amazing tune. I don't know French, but I will find myself singing to this in some alien language.
Also, if you look on youtube for this video, it's pretty bad. An underage girl dancing and singing under a giant banana (very phallic and just wrong).
I love the broken Engrish accents, and they are too adorable.
Shonen Knife is no stranger to covers, here's some that I can think of: the Batman Theme (??), Top of the World (Carpenters), the Luck of the Irish (John Lennon), Rain (Beatles), and Faith Healers (The Embarrassment).
