The Protocol
Recess is The Protocol's sophomore album. From what I've been able to piece together of this band, they had already had a good sized following in the Washington area prior to their debut album 24.
Their original line-up was with Sweetwater's Paul Uhlir, Jeff Reitan, and "spAce". I don't think Uhlir is with the band anymore, such as the nature of bands members coming and going, or bands forming and re-forming.
There are a couple of good songs that really stood out on Recess: "Barcelona", in the song is described as this great heavenly place, but then you (as a listener) quickly realized that in reality it's probably not so different from where you live. The title also made me think of The Rentals.
The other song that really stood out is "Click", which starts off with a modem handshake and "I'm in love with a porno star". The song is about internet porn and has a pretty funny line: "Oh yeah and we click" (literally).
The album was released 10/7/2007 on Parlor Records and can be purchased on Sonic Boom as well as major digital stores.
