The Fratellis

This is a pretty cool record... Chelsea Dagger is one of my faves from it.

I remember reading that along with Arcade Fire, The Fratellis are Ozzy Osbourne band to watch in 2007. Since I own the album, I'd have to agree :)

I have a few videos of theirs somewhere...

they are good....think I saw somewhere that iTunes released a live something/exclusive whatever recently, too...
Think they may have also canceled the rest of their US shows...due to "exhaustion"...lame
They've been played a lot here in the UK and I must admit that as soon as I heard of the band I assumed they chose the name from the Goonies film. But then I could be completely wrong.

I must admit that this is the first I've heard of them...which leads me to 2 conclusions:

1. They're not getting much airplay in South Africa yet.

or

2. I gotta get an ipod and download those itune thingies

You gotta love the retro album covers though

The video for Flathead is great, currently on my blog. lifeinyorkshire.vox.com , along with a mixture of songs and ads for the ipod/itunes.

Yes, I always think of The Goonies when I hear about this band. That wins them points in my book since that movie was awesome! ;)

I'd highly recommend signing up to the members section on their official website as it gives you access to 7 downloadable tracks including acoustic versions, demos and live recordings. RJB
They're a jolly band, but, IMHO, very derivative and kind of Oasis-lite (not that Oasis were originaly, I know).

Some good tunes and very hummable, but they're really not that exciting. Saw them live about this time last year and they weren't bad.

I'll be interested to see if they can repeat their success with the second album!
Mmm, while I like to support Scottish bands (being Scottish and all) and while it's nice that they're getting recognised and stuff I'm already so bored of them! I know this isn't their fault, but radio DJs in the UK seem to kill bands for me so quickly by just overplaying them so much. I don't think they're doing anything terribly new or exciting (as Rob has mentioned) but at the same time, I think what they do (happy indie pop whee), they do pretty good and I can't deny that I will get my dance on to them when I'm out and scream "CHELSEHH CHELSUUUH" like everyone else.

I like! I agree that they're highly derivative, but it's fun stuff all the same. It's like the Strokes with an old world immigrant vibe. They win bonus points for the album art.
