Radiohead: How much are they worth to you?

Comments

That came out of nowhere.
totally. okay, so i'm not going to pay anything for the download - ONLY because i am buying the deluxe boxset anyway. i have all the radiohead album released (limited edition if available) and planning on adding this to my set.

"If paying for music is just too great a burden for your wallet then you may be interested to know that The Charlatans will be releasing their 10th album for free via XFM"

Not sure I like this..... devaluing music anyone? Cheap marketing ploy? Hmm.

Still, new radiohead album!! Can't wait....!!

I know that The Crimea have had increased success with their free album, 'Secrets of the Witching Hour'.

Crimea Expert Christopher provided these reasons for Crimea's decision:

"it's pretty expensive getting a proper cd album release done and with the money they'd spend on that, they'd be much better putting it elsewhere (trip to china, tour etc) making loads of new fans and making money off merch / gigs than they would with a full cd release that not too many people would buy anyway without knowing who the band are first.

plus, nowadays if people wanted to buy the thing, if they're anything like me they'd go get a free copy somewhere anyway to have a listen, then go buy the cd. this way, they just come to the official site to get it, and buy the cd straight from the band."

I think it is a reflection of the ever changing music industry.
Why am I not surprised that you would be getting the boxset!! :)

I'd be honest, I was very tempted by the boxset but I'm currently going through this hippy phase of mine.

Thanks for the Free Burma link, put it on my calendar, given the dire straits going over there, I think we need all the outrage we can generate.

I'm getting the boxed set too. Like Vu, I'm one of those people who gives Radiohead fans a bad name, shelling out silly amounts of money on any old tat. I can't help myself.
I believe if you're truly a fan; you wouldn't feel good about yourself ripping the band off of a few bucks just so you can get a free download.

After all, it IS Radiohead; not some new and upcoming band. They're worth spending money on.
With crazies like Vu and Dale in the world I am sure Radiohead won't be feeling too hurt by my £1.50.

But you make a good point, the question is 'How much are Radiohead worth to you?'

If anybody is interested, I'd love to see how much other people will be paying for their Radiohead album.

Peewee, how much have you be paid for it?
[this is good]
Everyone I know who went for the download-only version has spent around £1 on it plus the fee. They all say the same - Radiohead have already had plenty of money out of 'em.
@ thedharmablues and Dale: Yep, I agree. That's what my friends keep saying. They must be well-off enough to practically give their new album away. =p

But I love collecting albums so yeah, I'm definitely gonna buy the boxset.
I kinda wish I could get just the vinyl. I don't really care about the CD, or the extra shit, and I don't particularly want to pay money for a download, no matter how little, and 80 bucks is just too much for any album, no matter who is releasing it. And I don't even really like Radiohead that much.

Guess I'll be skipping this one.
Apparently they're in talks with EMI about a more traditional release - with any luck, that'll include the CD and vinyl as separate items.
Man, I hope so. It would really bum me out if the only vinyl release was with the CD and all the extras.
Radiohead is worth buying that discbox. :)
