Frente! - Marvin the Album

Oh...My...God!!!

This is one of my favourite albums of all time. First time I went to a show based strictly on word of mouth and blind faith to a fellow BBSer (Hi IWAT!).

It's funny because just the other day in the local edition of the Metro newspaper, there was a piece about the best love songs and, lo and behold, there was Frente!'s "Bizarre Love Triangle" on that list.

You have made my week, nay my year!

This is really really really good.

I discovered Frente on a mix tape and year later found the album in a used cd shop. the whole album is ace, and her voice is so great. I always love to include a song from it on every mix cd i make now.

What a great time it was when this album came out. From what I remember, Simon Austin met Angie Hart when he busted her drinking underage in the pub he was working in. Somehow things went on from there.

It's funny I saw this now as just this afternoon I was rummaging around a drawer and found a "cassingle" of the Clunk EP. And she has such a lovely breathy quality to her voice. It's great to have randomly come across this post, thanks for writing it up.

I was like "Who is this person and what is a neighborhood?" So I checked out your page.

Holy shit, another Frente! fan!

As for their reformation, they put out a 3 song EP: Try to Think Less in 2005 (wow, its up to $40 on Amazon, glad I already got my copy). If you haven't heard it, try to get your hands on a copy - all 3 songs are good, and the second is a killer.

I still haven't figured out what the deal is with legality and posting tracks for streaming here...is it all kosher? I'm just assuming so, I'll post the ep later.

Collecting their singles is a hobby of mine..don't ask me why, but out of all the bands I buy, the only ones I get singles from are Frente! & Pixies. Of course, I only have 6 - but they are hard to come across around here without ordering online.
i use to have a cassette tape of marvin the album. & i went to their show back in the day at the edge in palo alto. haha. dang that was another lifetime ago.
