Built to Spill - There's Nothing Wrong with Love
With a title like that, the album HAS to be fantastic. The fact of the matter is, in my humble humble opinion, anything Built to Spill does is fantastic. I don't even really feel right making this entry as my bf is the bigger fan and is entirely responsible for introducing them to me. I'd really love to do them justice here, but I don't even know where to begin really.
The songs I chose to post are two of my favorite. Not just off the album, but in life. Heh. The feelings they evoke for me cannot be described. I'll just simply say I love them. Now enough about me and more about the awesomeness that is Built To Spill.
Where to begin! Gosh, well I'll just write what I know (and it truly isn't much) I know that they've been around since '92. I'm not exactly sure how well known they are or how popular they truly are. They never seemed to get the fame that bands such as Modest Mouse got (who are heavely influenced by BTS by the way). No MTV play and what not. Atleast, not to my knowledge, then again, like I said, I know not much. I know they are considered one of the greatest indie rock bands of all time. Heh, was that an overexagerration? Well, actually when they recorded Perfect From Now On they were already signed to Warner Bros. That's not very "indie" but who cares, the album was awesome Lol.
At a June 3 '06 show they dedicated "Car" to Andy Capps who was also a former band member and had just recently died. Guess it has even more significance now.
Well, I really wish I had the journalistic muscle to write more, but the fact of the matter is, I am not a rock journalist. Heh, I know none of us really are, but I love when someone does an incredible entry and it just seems so professional.
