Real Murders (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, Book 1)

My friend, Elizabeth, shared this book with me.  Another Harris series, Aurora Teagarden, who is a librarian in a small town.  Nothing has ever happened to her until the day she finds a murdered woman.  There is nothing about the supernatural at all in this book.  And in fact, Aurora Teagarden is not a very strong character.  She is saved not by her own actions, but by others, which is not the usual Harris plot line.  But she is very human, and I like her a lot!  I will read others in this series.  I am amazed and impressed by Harris's output.  Where has she been?  Did she have all these stories stored up or already written?  How can she be so prolific?  I'll have to learn more about her.  She likes and respects librarians which works for me!

For my daughter's fifth birthday (today), I made cupcakes. These are very much from scratch--as my mixer is currently down, I stirred/mixed everything by hand. I have mad baking skillz.

Shakespeare's Trollop (Lily Bard, Book 4)

I am on a Charlaine Harris roll!  Dave picked this book up at a bookstore because it is written by Harris.  I think this is part of a series, but I am not sure, even after reading it.  It was a quick and enjoyable read.  I like the main character, Lily Bard, who has had a horrible and traumatic experience.  Harris does not mince when it comes to describing evil, but she does not belabor it.  She gives enough for the story, but not so much that I have to skip passages and pages.  I plan to read more of this series in the future, I've come to care for Lily Bard.

Grave Surprise (Harper Connelly Mysteries, Book 2)

This is the second story in the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris.  As much as I like the Sookie Stackhouse series, the supernatural is not a favorite genre of mine.  And though there is a bit of the supernatural element in this series, it is not the major plot force.  These are more detective/crime solving with a supernatural flair! I really enjoy the characters and the stories Harris weaves, and eagerly anticipate reading the rest of the series.
